bonus II
here are 4 crystal forms, hex-octahedron, triclinic, hexagonal, dodecahedral(just look at the silver links, the colored links are for rigidity, it is a form of 12 pentagons (12 sided die from d&d)). there is a prize if you can tell me which two are most closely related (yes, a real prize, and no, i dont know what it is yet, but it prolly contains ethanol)
another rant

buckminster fullerene ~C60
experimenting with the magnetix this morning, almost $60 worth of the magnetic toys and i still only have half of the bucky ball built *sigh* actually, i dont think they are strong enough to support the wieght of a full fullerene, there are a lot of extra links included for rigidity.
here it is partialy deconstructed (just before it collapsed under its own wieght ;) that shows its relation to the fullerene

the sun is burnning out?
another movie "sunshine", where they take science and make a bad mockery of it, i love scifi, but come on, lets find a subject that at least makes a little sense? the sun converts mass, on the order of 5 million tons of it per second, directly into energy. thats about 200,000,000 times the amount of energy released by every atomic bomb ever detonated on earth (all added together) every second..... so.... how you gonna compare to that trying to heat it back up? and thats just the first problem i see. i hate it when movies do that.
naps are good for you

mud
prolly end up going back to work in the next week or so, so i needed to get my dirty clothes washed from my last time out, it was only a week long so there wasnt much, two loads mabey, the job isnt too dirty, except for rigging up and down, now THAT opperation is messy, crawling around the rig, putting up or taking down sensors and the wires to connect them to my computer systems. a $60 set of long sleeve coveralls take most of that mess, nice of them to throw themsleves onto that grenade

obosolescence
well, they one of the lesser joys of home, been having trouble with the internet access the last few days at home, an intermittent fault, the tech came out this morning, talk about young, he couldn't have been older than 20, cant even buy a beer yet, smart kid, just no training in networking (so he was here to fix the internet network.... you figure it out, i cant), he tried all the stuff he knew, so i showed him a few other tricks and that still didn't do it, so he called his tech support *boggle* and the guy (paul) said that the modem we BOUGHT from COX HIGH SPEED INTERNET was no longer supported on the network and was obsolete, that we would have to purchase a new one ($50) to maintain a stable internet connection....*sigh* this had better work, at least it has the same number of leds, so the number of glowing thingies in the back room will stay the same.
ps. oh ya, if i still have the fault, jason (the tech that came out) agrees that i get to eviscerate someone.
pps. at least jason didnt charge me for the service call though, that would have been another $35
ppps. i think what also pisses me off a lot about this was ZERO notification that my modem was about to become obsolete, now i realize i would have been pissed even with notification, but that would have been one less thing i would have been pissed about

techniques
heather's experiment with sepia spurred me to try out some techniques that i have seen before but never experimented with, one was to take a pic, and put it on a computer, then to superimpose the monitor over the real object and take another pic, sounded like fun, just for grins and giggles i used a black and white pic of my face, to superimpose over my head:)
please excuse the post lunch splotches on my shirt

*&^%$#@!^&*^#^^%$$#%^&*&^^%! lexus
Poor Zac, he was complaining about dealing with small cars, he couldnt even find the drain plug to change the oil, he was going to have to jack the car up to be able to reach under and open the drain, while i do most of my own work on my vehicles, the cold, and space and the mess are some of the reasons i pay someone ELSE to change my oil, i hate dealing with it

Good eats
well, went shopping for the last of the fixings for the chili, superbowl sunday isnt too far away and good chili takes a day or two to fix:) while shopping at dillions we went down the soup isle and jacque saw the ravioli, i know she likes it a lot and it was better than the chicken mcnuggets and french fries i was contemplating. after the third attempt at keeping the bib on, i gave up and just took her shirt off for her nap, dont really want pasta sauce on the sheets;) you can see the rest of the train wreck on the floor, mabey this will spur me to get some of it cleaned up

4. home/home:work/work
5. home/work:work/home
6. hobby/games

lets see how this goes.
